Our background

The Bermuda Society was incorporated in 1987 at the request of former Bermuda premier Sir John Swan, KBE, JP; former governor and commander-in-chief of Bermuda, the Viscount Dunrossil, CMG; and Sir Peter Gadsden, GBE,AC, former lord mayor of the City of London. They envisioned a non-profit organisation that would promote Bermuda as a respected jurisdiction for global business and strengthen historic, mutually beneficial links between Bermuda, the UK, and other international centres of excellence.

That has been the Society’s mission ever since. With strong support of sitting Bermuda governors and premiers over 35 years, this non-profit group has worked successfully to raise awareness of the island as a centre for world-class financial services that also encompasses a wealth of corporate, cultural, community, scientific, strategic, and educational links to Britain and beyond.
